Sheila was admitted to Walden Rehab on 11/26/2008.  She is 71, with multiple sclerosis. She was admitted to a hospital with a change in mental status.  She had been falling down a number of times, caused by a lack of balance.  She was diagnosed with a large hematoma in the area of the right knee, extending into the right thigh.  Sheila has been dealing with her MS since she was 39 and she has been able to cope with the effects of intermittent blurred vision and difficulty walking, but the mental status changes were a new challenge for her.

While at Walden, Sheila is continuing to work with rehabilitation therapists and she continues to progress.  Her ultimate goal is to return home.

My stay at Walden Rehabilitation and nursing has been very good.  The rehabilitation has been excellent.  The therapists are very knowledgeable and have worked hard to help me rebuild my strength.

I have been taught the correct techniques to continue the exercises at home.  The staff at Walden was friendly and helpful with enjoyable planned activities for the patients.  I recommend Walden.

Sheila is a pleasant and out going lady with a great sense of humor.  She is often heard talking and laughing with her roommate, staff and visitors.  Typically it sounds like a party going on in her room!

While at Walden Sheila is continuing to work with therapies to continue to progress.  Her ultimate goal is to return home, but due to some set backs along the way her progress has been slowed.  Sheila continues to work towards her goal of returning home and hasn’t let her set back deter her from this.
